Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Test Engineer – Data with experience in testing data-driven systems, ETL pipelines, and analytics platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across multiple data sources and will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, prepare, and execute data testing activities across BI & Analytics platforms and Enterprise Data Warehouse environments.
* Develop and maintain test strategies, test plans, test cases, and test scripts for ETL workflows, data pipelines, reporting layers, and dashboards.
* Perform thorough source-to-target data validation, data reconciliation, and transformation checks to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
* Validate BI reports and dashboards (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for data correctness, performance, and alignment with business requirements.
* Execute functional, integration, regression, and UAT testing to ensure high-quality deliveries for analytics and reporting solutions.
* Identify, track, and report defects; work with data engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution.
* Perform data profiling, data quality assessments, and root cause analysis of issues detected during testing.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams during requirement reviews to provide early quality inputs and support test readiness activities.
* Support test automation initiatives for data validation, and help improve QA processes, standards, and best practices.
* Prepare and present test reports and quality metrics to project leads and stakeholders for sign-off and continuous improvement.
Role Requirements and Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
* 5+ years of experience in data testing, BI, or ETL testing across BI & Analytics platforms and Data Warehouse environments.
* Strong hands-on experience with ETL concepts, Data Warehouse principles, and BI reporting validation.
* Proficiency in SQL for data validation, source-to-target reconciliation, and complex test queries.
* Experience validating BI dashboards and reports (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) against source data and business rules.
* Experience preparing and executing manual test cases and documenting test results.
* Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., Jira, ALM, Azure DevOps).
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Certifications:
* ISTQB Advanced Test Manager, Data Analytics/BI certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, Snowflake, or AWS Data Analytics Specialty).
